You're invited—Anthology Launch Party

We’d love for you to join us for the launch of Shadow and Light: New Writing from Indiana from Purple Aardvark Publishing.

This new collection gathers writers with strong ties to Indiana and asks them to take on a simple but formidable challenge: create good work about hard things. The result is a vibrant mix of poetry, essays, stories and visual work that explores the difficult moments of life with honesty, imagination and—more often than you might expect—a touch of beauty.

To celebrate the book’s release, we’re hosting a launch party and literary gathering:

Saturday, March 28
5:00–7:00 p.m. (Eastern)
Detchon International Center
Wabash College
Crawfordsville, Indiana

The evening will feature short readings from contributors, book signings, an open mic for those feeling brave, and a brief Q&A with the editorial board. Mostly, though, it’s a chance for writers, readers and friends of the literary arts to gather, swap stories and celebrate new work coming out of our corner of the state.

If you enjoy discovering new voices—or simply fancy an evening in good literary company—we hope you’ll join us.

Our Vision

Purple represents royalty—and let's face it, we're ordinary people. But we have seen the ability of stories to inspire, educate, and entertain. Our vision is to create a world where everyone has access to great literature, regardless of their background or geography or proximity to the publishing world. And where all voices are heard.

Our First Anthology

We're a team of professionals with diverse backgrounds who are committed to showcasing the enormous talent of Indiana writers—and we're thrilled to announce the release of our first-ever anthology on March 28, 2026!

Support Our Work

We are traditionally published, self-published, and unpublished writers working together to encourage and promote writers at all stages of their careers. As writers, readers, and book lovers who share a passion for the written word, we're donating our time and talents, but would be grateful for your support to help cover out-of-pocket costs.
