Purple Aardvark began as an entity initially created by a small group of writer friends to use as a publisher (in name only) for some self-published books. When we began discussing how to create an anthology, we added team members and decided to create a stand-alone entity not dependent on any one individual. We are now an official LLC registered with the state. We hope to publish books of all genres—anthologies (including all genres detailed on our anthology call-for-entries), nonfiction, poetry, children’s books, and more.
We have a small (unpaid) staff, people with the capability/skills/experience to help others publish their books. Our focus is on helping get strong, unique Midwestern voices into print because we know how much good writing is created here. We plan to serve as a hybrid publisher. We can provide the following services (and more) at reasonable rates to help individuals bring their books to fruition:
• Publishing options/directions• Editing• Proofreading• Cover design• Ebook and print book formatting• Promotional graphics (but we do not handle the marketing of your finished books)We are selective about which projects we take on. We currently plan to only publish 1-3 books per year to start, and we have one title, a memoir, in the lineup for this year as well as the anthology.

Please also paste into the body of the email the first 5-10 pages of your manuscript. We will respond within four weeks. If your project is potentially a good fit for Purple Aardvark, we will then discuss costs and timelines.
